Gion Yoshiima Hotel - Kyoto

Charming ambiance and delicious breakfast offerings.

The room was far too cramped for comfort, particularly with limited space for luggage. I found the private onsen to be poorly maintained, with visible mold and dirt which was utterly unacceptable. The low seating on tatami mats, especially for taller guests like us. I felt quite constrained and not able to enjoy the meal.

Unexpected hospitality in Gion

Upon arrival, we were greeted with warm tea and a delicious Japanese breakfast. The staff went out of their way to ensure we felt at home.

Climbing stairs to the third floor with heavy luggage was a bit challenging. Seating on the tatami mats may be uncomfortable for taller guests.

The hotel was set in a central area close to Sanjo train station and shopping belts, sightseeing and parks, temples, shrines, shops and all sorts of interesting things to see. Popped in Gyoza Bar Anzukko for shots before sleep, it was a 10-15 minute walk from the venue😃

Gorgeous place with polite staff, everything was perfect. The rooms were big size and authentic and the location was excellent close to everything.

All good - we really enjoyed this traditional hotel - the food was outstanding and the staff were very helpful. Besides, the location was absolutely perfect and fantastic for our stay, within 25 minutes' walk of a historic wooden castle. The venue was in a shopping area.

The room features traditional tatami mats and beautiful sliding shoji doors. I loved the private onsen bath. It was a good way to unwind after a day of exploring. The traditional breakfast, consisting of beautifully presented dishes, started my day on a high note. The serene tea ceremony held in the garden was a lovely touch that offered deep insights into Japanese culture. The seating on tatami mats felt a bit low and may be uncomfortable for taller individuals were great. The room felt somewhat cramped, especially with luggage, which could be an inconvenience for longer stays.

We were in an absolutely perfect location not too far away from Yasaka Shrine. The staff was very helpful and extremely friendly at this place.

The authentic Japanese dinner was a highlight, but the room felt cold all night.

Staying here with my teenage daughter was a culturally rich experience. The traditional Japanese meals were tasty, and we loved participating in the garden tea ceremony. The staff genuinely, appreciated.

In my wife's opinion, more hooks in the bathroom would help.

the lighting in the bathroom was a bit dim , but the view of the rooftops was stunning! the Japanese breakfast was beautifully presented and each dish was delicious. the staff were incredibly friendly and made our stay special.

The fine garden provided a tranquil retreat, especially enjoyable with a cup of tea while listening to the soothing sounds of the fountain. The tatami seating felt a bit low for comfort, and the small size of the room limited space for luggage. The experience was enjoyable but could be enhanced with a few adjustments.

The Kaiseki dinner was a good experience. Served in our room with a variety of delicious traditional dishes.

Gion yoshiima is a beautiful, authentic place in the heart of kyoto. The staff are super nice and helpful. Having a tea ceremony in the garden was such a cool experience. The japanese breakfast was delicious, best way to start the day! The room was comfy and cozy, like your own little retreat.

The room felt a bit cramped for more luggage. It can be tricky getting to the hotel since it's in a historic area with narrow paths.
